Who is
Fastech Communications LLC? Fastech
Communications, LLC. is an agent for Isterra a Division
of Primus Telecommunications, Inc. (hereinafter
"Isterra"). Isterra covers the entire range of
telecommunication services - US, International,
Toll-Free, T1, and Calling Cards both post-paid and
pre-paid.
Is there any
set up fee to start an account with Isterra?
There
are no installation or changeover fees from
Isterra. Your local phone company may charge for a
PIC change fee. When you receive your first
Isterra invoice, please contact Customer Service (on the
bill) or 1-800-393-3000 and request a one time credit up
to $5 per line.
How can Fastech Communication charge such low
rates and stay in business?
Isterra has
agreements with our carriers that guarantee them we will
use a very large amount of long distance each
month. In return, we get the great rates they
normally only give to their largest customers. We
then pass these rates on to you.
How do I sign up for
Isterra?
Just click
on the "Signup Online" or "Sign Up Now" button, fill out
the short form and press submit. Within a few minutes,
you will receive an automated callback to confirm your
order & your service should be switched within 5 to
7 working days.
How long does it take for my service to
get switched over to Isterra? After Isterra has received a
new account with proper authorization, the process takes
approximately 5 business days. After the account has
been set up by ISTERRA, each customer will receive a
welcome letter via e-mail explaining important
information about their account. Included in this letter
is information on how to verify if you have been
switched and what to do if you have a "PIC freeze".
Will I receive my bill on my local phone
bill? No.
Isterra will bill you separately therefore enabling you
to determine exactly what your long distance costs
are.
What are local toll calls? These are calls that can
occur within your area code, but your local provider
charges you by distance. For example, calls from 12-20
miles away would be billed at one rate and 21-30 at
another, depending on time of day as well. The cost of a
"local toll" call with Isterra is the same as any
in-state call.
Do I have to dial any special codes to
get my low Isterra rates? No. You may simply dial 1
plus the number you want to call.
What is a ''PIC Freeze''? A ""PIC Freeze"" is a block
your local phone company puts on your line, per your
request, which protects you from being switched
("slammed") to another long distance carrier without
your express consent.
Should I tell my previous long distance
company that I am switching? No, you should not inform
your previous long distance company that you are
switching, we will take care of
it.
What's the catch on your
plan?
There is no
"catch" or hidden fees. Everything is disclosed to you
up front. Our company is made up of consumers just like
you, who want a great deal with no
bull.
What is an intrastate call? Communication within a
single state. Intrastate communications are regulated by
each state"s PUC.
What is 'slamming'? The term "Slamming" refers
to a long distance provider changing your long distance
service without your knowledge or consent. To prevent
"Slamming", we recommend you put a PIC freeze on your
phone line.
What is a LOA (letter of
agency)?
A document
that authorizes changing the service
provider.
Does Isterra offer calling cards?
Yes. The
Travel Card rate is currently 12.9¢ per minute. All
calling card calls will be included in your monthly
bill. Please check the Travel Card page as the
international rates also have a separate rate
schedule.
Is there any additional charge for an 800
or toll-free number? No. 800 numbers will be
billed at the same rates as your outgoing
calls.
Is there any minimum commitment time as a
customer?
No. You can
discontinue service anytime as there is no
contract.
Does it cost me to call an 800
number?
No. Of
course not. You are calling an 800 number. That means
the party on the receiving end pays for the
call.
How long has Isterra been in
business?
Four and
one-half years. We are committed to providing you with
excellent service. We are a solid company and are
growing rapidly every month.
